Lillian Springfield is a budding romance author who finds constant inspiration in the people and places around her. Having sharpened her skills over years of short story and flash fiction writing, she has now begun to dip her toes into the extended world of novellas and novels, focusing primarily on romantic tales.

Lillian lives in small-town British Columbia with her boyfriend and dog, where they grow prize-winning sunflowers in the summer (though not those pictured here), bake pumpkin pies in the fall, and generally dream of moving to a cabin in the woods.

When I was younger, I was pretentious as hell. I thought editing was stupid and believed strongly in getting it right the first time. This led to a lot of wasted hours spent staring at the page or screen, restructuring the same sentence to death until I felt it was perfect.

Nowadays, I try very hard to just sit down and get the words out when I have the time, even if that’s only 15 minutes in the morning before work, and even if they suck. It’s still more than I had the day before, and that’s what counts.

Would I love to have multiple full days a week to dedicate to writing alone? OF COURSE! But that’s not my reality right now, and I’ve realized I need to stop comparing myself to writers with different schedules, lifestyles, and mental bandwidths.

Never forget, it’s all about telling your story, no matter how you get there 💖

Just finished this yesterday and it was perfect. I didn’t give even a fraction of a second thought to any other rating than five stars.

This struck me as precisely the type of story I aim to emulate: a beautiful balance of humour and emotional depth featuring well-rounded characters who are easy to connect with.

The love between Emma and Justin feels so sweet without being saccharine. It’s genuine. They’re supportive. They COMMUNICATE. I would dive headfirst into a friend group with these characters any day.

An absolute dream to read and a bright shiny ray of sunshine slashing through the dull days of January.

One of the best things about writing is you can literally write about whatever you want. For real. No one can stop you.

My boyfriend and I started golfing in the spring of 2023 and fell immediately head-over-heels in love with it. Am I any good? Absolutely not, but that’s beside the point. What’s not to love about spending a sunny afternoon in a cute outfit on a perfectly manicured stretch of grass? Plus you get to HIT STUFF?? And they even give you a tiny car!

Naturally, it occurred to me this summer to channel all my bright squishy feelings into a romance novel centered around golf, which I can confirm is currently in the works. My catchphrase (ahem, *excuse*) anytime I skirted other responsibilities to go golfing very quickly became “it’s research!”.

Though it got pushed onto the back burner during my Peak Chemistry era, and December has been (as usual) a generally bonkers month, the plan is to go full steam ahead on the golf project come 2025! With a lot of work and a little luck, I hope to have it in all your hot little hands by August.

If you haven’t visited the BC Wildlife Park around Christmastime, I can tell you first-hand that you’re missing out (FYI, this is not a sponsored ad- I just genuinely love this event).

Every year through December and the beginning of January they put on their Wildlights display which features (not exaggerating) over a million lights arranged in dozens of beautiful displays. There’s hot chocolate and fire pits and it’s especially gorgeous when it snows. You can ride a mini-train around the park to take in the scenery and, of course, peek in at all the animal habitats (though a couple, like the grizzlies, are often already snoozing for the season).

Wildlights was one of my favourite holiday traditions when I lived in the Kamloops area, and it was a big inspiration for one of the pivotal scenes in my recently released novella, Peak Chemistry. I can’t imagine a more romantic backdrop than being surrounded by countless sparkling and twinkling lights while the snow dances around you.

Years ago, I had the pleasure of volunteering at the BC Wildlife Park and they do great work in helping rehabilitate and care for wild animals while offering valuable education opportunities to the public.

So if you’ve read Peak Chemistry and want to experience a real life (arguably better!) version of The Light Farm that Burt and Miranda visit, you’re in luck! It exists as one of BC’s great winter attractions 💖

All the headaches and second guessing, the reading out loud and honest-to-god boredom at times… the world of Crystal Peaks has left me crosseyed.

Of course I love my characters and my story but I’ll be honest- after multiple rereads, I am desperate to let my baby bird-book spread its wings and leave the nest so I can focus on other projects. I can’t name a single other book I’ve read more than three times, most no more than twice.

I do this for myself because I love it, and because I want to put good stories into the world; but I also do it for you, so you can focus on getting lost in the romance, friendship, and holiday spirit instead of fixating on that one typo from chapter three.
